10 Foods To Eat Before a Workout


ProteinWhen exercising your body uses up your stores of fuel this is known as glycogen, when you do your workout these need to be put back, to get these both you need a combination of carbs and protein. It’s a bit of a misconception that you people who train harder need more protein, this isn’t the case clearly.

Here are some things to consider if you eat a lot of protein it can lead to a loss of water, protein also takes longer to absorb and breakdown so your recovery will be slower, what is needed is a balance in foods these two groups that is.

So here is a list of what you need to eat before your workout.

  1. Some skimmed milk contains both the two group’s of foods carbs and protein also has water so will replenish water lost through sweating.
  2. Any kind of yogurt great source of protein, make sure of two things no sugar in the yogurt and no high fat content also
  3. Chicken or turkey both great sources of protein add vegetables to complement it
  4. Salmon sandwiches with whole meal bread more fiber the better but don’t forget the carbs are in the bread, also you can use tuna if you don’t like salmon
  5. Smoothie made with the following ingredients some yogurt a banana and a juiced orange
  6. Cheese and some cream crackers or wholemeal crackers Ryvita might be good for this
  7. Some peanuts great source of protein with a salad add some carbs of your choice
  8. Some fruit see which ones have what food groups in
  9. Boiled egg with wholemeal bread
  10. Beans on toast whole meal bread again
