My name is Mark and this blog is my weight loss story.

My weight loss journey started in June two thousand and six, at first I would say it was quite a bumpy one to say the least. I was very overweight and weighed eighteen and a half stone which is about five and a half stone over my normal weight.
The main reason I had to lose some weight was because my blood sugar was very high at one stage, and from that point onwards I knew that I had to do something about my weight. So one day while I was watching television I saw a man on there, who had been on something called the GI diet, I never heard of this before so decided to look into it more.
This diet revolved around eating foods that have a low GI rating GI stands for glycaemic index what this means in a nutshell, is that you eat foods that that release their sugar over a longer period of time. I bought a book called the GI diet by Rick Gallop. And went from there while I was doing this I thought it might be a good idea to start a blog so I could track my progress, over a period of time and what you see before you is a result of that.
Because I have had to do so much research in finding stories, I have become quite knowledgeable about weight loss and now find it quite interesting.
