2827882502_b1ce5d1cc7[1]One of the great things about writing a blog like this, you never know what the day hold’s there is always something happening within the health industry and today is no exception.Scientists have found that by drinking a certain tea it can help to lower your blood pressure, all the people that were involved in the study drank three cups of hibiscus tea and that is all.

The tea itself is very high in antioxidants, and helped people who were at risk of having heart disease, strokes and kidney disease, the research was conducted by scientist Diane McKay who presented her findings to the American Heart Association.

In the study there were two lots of people in two groups, these were aged between 30 and 70 years of age. And whose blood pressure was put in the at risk categorie, once a period of six weeks have passed they checked the results to see what progress had been made.

The group that had been drinking tea had a 7.3 percent drop and some were high as 13 percent, the other group which was called the placebo group dropped 1.3 percent. A spokesperson from the BP Association said that although the findings were quite significant more studies are needed to be done.

Hibiscus is added to some soft drinks already as flavouring in a few countries which areAfrica ,Caribbean and Asia , in Taiwan it is already being used to treat high blood pressure this is the first time I have heard of this tea, so probably in the near future we may hear more about it.
