Is this a joke you may ask how can a social media site that has become so popular in recent years help you lose weight, well somebody has had the idea of setting up a website.
Which holds you accountable for what you are eating, so the idea is when you eat something you record it on twitter. Among the people trying this are actor Stephen Fry and Little Britain star Matt Lucas, and who has been reported as losing half a stone in two weeks.
The site in question is called to eat what you eat it has a core database which comes from its members, so you don’t actually have to think about entering any numbers such as the amount of calories that you have eaten. There are 8000 people already following the service on twitter so it looks like it’s got off to a very good start.
So the more that people use it the more intelligent it will be come I think this is a great way of participating with other people and keeping yourself accountable for what you are eating and involving technology at the same time.
The website owners said Alex Ressi, creator of Tweet What You Eat, said: “People need to be able to share in the success and lean on others.
“I’ve had people write in and share stories about 20 pound, 40 pound and the most dramatic – a 70 pound weight loss using the Tweet What You Eat tool and working in conjunction with a nutritionist.”
A spokesman for Weight Watchers told The Sun: “Tracking what you eat using technology helps, as most of us are appalling at estimating what we’ve eaten.”
