If you listen to a specific type of therapy pod cast, which has a cognitive nature in, may help you to lose weight, so instead of going to see a therapist or hypnosis specialist you would listen to a particular type of pod cast, which may help you if you are struggling to lose weight.
The study which was published in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine, found that it could help people who are trying to lose weight and not succeeding, Gabrielle M. Turner-McGrievy who is a dietician conducted the study which involved 78 men and women. One group of 41 people received a normal pod cast, while the others received one on social cognitive therapy.
They had to listen to 24 episodes of the therapy, this ran over a period of three months, the group that had cognitive therapy pod cast lost 2 1/2 kilograms, they also found that weight loss knowledge was better in the group that received the cognitive therapy pod cast.
One of the researchers is quoted as saying;
Finding new and innovative ways to reach people who wish to lose weight is important,” the authors write. “This study demonstrated that pod casts can be more effective when they are theory based and carefully designed to promote cognitive processing and elaboration of information.
Future studies should find ways to encourage participants to be more mobile while listening to the pod casts — such as encouraging participants to listen to the pod casts on portable players during exercise — in order to increase physical activity.”
So how does this fit in with losing weight. Well there may be some pod casts that you can buy or down loadable MP3’s which you listen to on a regular basis and eventually your subconscious mind accepts what it is being told, there are certain types of pod casts that are like a coach so you have your own portable weight loss coach.
I think myself that sometimes when we have technology, we tend to use it to one particular thing that it was intended for such as listening to music, which is the primary purpose of the iPod, but as we can see there are other uses for it as well.
