The problem is not so much fat, but the type of fat. Many societies eat 50% or more of their calories from fat (I do also) and still stay slim. Any animal fat from corn-fed feedlot animals(everything in the grocery store and restaurants) is poor quality fat which contributes to heart disease and obesity. Hydrogenated and refined oils are artificial fats and cause the same problems. The fat in the American diet consists almost exclusively of these destructive fats
Meat, eggs and dairy from free-range, grass fed animals has a totally different profile and is very healthy and necessary for good health and is a superb appetite suppressant.
