Fear of Hunger Does it Encourage Obesity

There can be quite a number reasons why people overeat and become an obese person at the bottom of it all is just over eating.  But are there any other factors that we should be taking into consideration, that may be causing people to eat more than they should.

How about the fear of being hungry ? a poll was set up in Virginia , which came to the conclusion that obese people do in actual fact have a fear of being hungry.  These people were observed as carrying food around with them because they were scared of being hungry.

Perhaps these behaviour’s were implanted in their subconscious minds, by the peer pressure of their parents when they were at a suggestible age, some of things that they may of been told were such things as, eat all your food and you will keep healthy. Or make sure that you leave your plate clean and don’t leave anything behind.

Is there anything behind being hungry ?  as far as fear is concerned, as this does tend to happen on a subconscious level of the person concerned it’s as if there mind. Just can’t manage without food so the person has to carry it around with them, if you are suffering from a fear of hunger then this will scupper your plans to lose any weight long-term.

It maybe even the fact that it has been going on such a long time that you’re not even aware of it. When most people get hungry they may feel the empty feeling in their stomach, or when they get really hungry they might feel quite high and light headed. If we look at this from another angle, when we eat so much food and become bloated, this can make us feel tired and feeling lethargic as our stomachs are working so hard to digest all the food we have eaten.

In order to try and stop this happening to yourself try grading your hunger on a scale of 1 to 10, unless you get up to 7 then don’t eat.

Here are some tips to stave off hunger :

  • Become consciously aware of when you are hungry, have you ever noticed that maybe when you’re watching a commercial break, and all those sensual images of food are displayed before you. It doesn’t take too long before you’re saliva glands are saying eat something. So if you can avoid watching commercials that promote food.
  • Listen to what your body is telling are you really hungry, or could it be that you’re just bored. Sometimes we can tend to eat food just like people who smoke cigarettes are bored. So if it is a boredom problem go for a walk and get some exercise, exercise tends to stop hunger pangs.
  • Break the habit of carrying food around with you unless you really do need to do it,  it’s very easy to start a habit and not realise it’s become automatic. But very much the same way that you learn to ride a bicycle or drive a car. Carrying food around with you because you are scared of being hungry is merely a pure habit. The only way to break this pattern is to stop doing what you are doing.
  • Try to analyse and understand what it is that is making you, want to carry this food around with you and making you scared of being hungry. It may be something in your dark and distant past that is causing it. If you are unable to sort the problem out yourself, sometimes hypnosis can help with these types of issues, so consider this an option.
  • Many sites these days have down loadable hypnosis tracks which may not necessarily be related to a fear of hunger. But you may be able to use something similar.
