Five Healthy Pitta Pizza Recipes

I have just recently started experimenting with food again, as I have been getting a bit bored of the food that I’ve been buying as of late and someone I know has been posting recipes on their Facebook wall from time to time, so I started looking at what she was posting and they were mini pizza recipes using Pitta bread as a base.

So, out of curiosity, and being as I needed a change. I decided to have a go at making some myself. I wasn’t quite sure at first, how they would turn out, but to my surprise, they were delicious and very filling. Last night I just had one for my tea/late supper, and I didn’t eat a great deal more later on.

Pitta With Chicken

1x wholemeal Pitta bread for the base.

1x tube of tomato purée or you can buy in a jar

1x tube of garlic purée optional

1x broccoli

1x three bell peppers2, red, green and yellow

1x pack of grated mozzarella cheese

1x punnet of cherry tomatoes

1x punnet of chestnut mushrooms or whatever is available

1x pack of sliced chicken

Method:

Squeeze out enough tomato purée onto your pitta bread and smooth it with a knife until you have covered the whole of the pitta bread add some garlic purée if you require it. Then cut a cherry tomato in half and put that on your tomato purée, and at the other ingredients. Top with mozzarella cheese and grill for about 6 min or less. The cheese needs to be going just slightly brown and serve.

There are many more recipes that you could add to this, these are just a few I came up with based on other pizza recipes. The great thing with these is it’s a relatively small amount of food compared to a conventional pizza, however they do fill you I can eat one and feel full.

Are there any recipes that you have done using pitta bread as a base like a pizza? I would be interested if you have as always please leave your thoughts or comments in the relevant section below.
