Have a Laugh and Lose Some Weight

101667131_4505c8f5fd[1]Are you feeling a bit fatter because of all the food that you have eaten over Christmas, or even a bit guilty because of doing that, if so then read on. Some scientists have found that the last thing for a prolonged amount of time, you may be able to burn the same amount of calories by laughing compared to lifting weights for a period of time.

They say that you can burn as much as doing 30 minutes of resistance weight training using free weights. A prolonged amount of laughter is like doing your own mini aerobic session according to Dr Helen Pilcher. It increases your heart rate when you are having a good bellylaugh rather than just a chuckle, and this in turn will increase your blood flow around your body.

Dr Pilcher says that you’re not supposed to watch funny films for long a period of time, in order for this to be effective. Her research found that laughing for an hour will burn off 100 calories. More mundane ways of trying to lose the same amount of weight, might be vacuuming in your house or lifting weights for half an hour.

She found that by laughing for an hour burnt off half a ounce of fat, in her research. So all you need to do now is find some of your favourite comedy programmes which last for an hour say half an hour each episode, I highly recommend Fawlty Towers for doing this.

And laugh yourself a few pounds off, that reminds me where did I put those laurel and Hardy DVDs. Who says there aren’t other ways of losing weight like the ones we already know about. Here is something to try while your lifting your weights, one think of some funny things have happened to you in the past. That would have double the effect I wouldn’t recommend doing this in the gym though people might think you are a bit of a Nutter walking round doing your weight training on the machines and laughing to yourself.

Thank you for an optimistic article! I bet most visitors will like it as the weight loss recipe is the most pleasant and desirable one. Since my childhood I’ve been told that laughing prolongs your life. That was funny when I was just a kid, and I laughed more and have never thought about the real reasons for that, nobody thought indeed. Your article explains a lot, it gives facts, I like it. But what I have just thought – all these tokens and predictions did not appear out of the air. It’s wisdom of our ancestors. Wisdom gained within centuries. They could not explain why, but they knew many things for sure, and used this knowledge in their everyday life. I believe we should listen to them .So laugh and live a longer healthy life!

    Hi Mark,

I found this article from Zemanta. It showed up when I was making a brief post about Health, Weightloss and Mindset.

I told the story about someone being laughing themselves to health. I heard that story years ago and of course it has stood out in my mind. and one of my favorites to laugh at is also Laurel and Hardy. along with To the Manor Born and As Time Goes By (also British comedies).

I fully believe you could also laugh weight off. Proverbs 17:22 tells us “A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
