Having a Fat Belly Keeps You Fatter

2508426087_3e423eebd0If you have quite a lot of belly fat there may be something that you need to know, according to some research that has come out just recently, having a fat belly may be causing you to eat more food.

The Research

A team of researchers from Canada found that belly fat produces a hormone called NPY which encourages more of fat to be made, they already know that this hormonal also causes feelings of hunger as well. They said if they could find out how this mechanism works that would be the basis for creating some pills in order to help people from overeating.

Having a lot of belly fat is responsible for quite a few diseases thing including heart disease type 2 diabetes, blood pressure. The researchers carried out tests on rats to see what they could find out, it is because of the excess of this hormone with people who have a lot of belly fat, that they tend to eat more food than they would normally do.

What they also found was this hormone tends to end up in your abdomen which in due course encourages more fat to be produced this causes a vicious cycle.

What to do

If you happen to be one of those people who who does have quite a lot of belly fat than this might be a bit of a wake-up call for yourself, to do something about it here are some tips.

  • Try taking a real good look at what you, eat are you writing it down or start a food diary or journal you might be surprised at what you are or aren’t eating.
  • Read the labels on the food that you’re buying it is surprising how many people don’t actually do this simple thing don’t be caught out by things that say low-fat because sometimes sugar can be hidden within the food the you’re eating and sugar to turns fat.
  • The exercise you’re doing are you doing enough, do you get to the stage where your body feels hot or do you go at it like a madman. You may need to take a look at what you’re doing as regards your exercise, one of the best ways to burn body fat is exercise until your body warms up slowly this is by far one of the most effective ways to burn fat.
  • Try exercising in sessions rather than one whole session studies have shown that if you break your exercise into two sessions it is far more effective in burning fat than if you want to do one session. If you intend to exercise for one hour, split this into to half an hour sessions one in the morning on one in the evening. This will be far more effective.
  • See if you are eating sugar anywhere in your eating plan this will without a doubt be one of the most important things, as regards having excess belly fat, sugar tends to turn to fat so be very scrutinising in what you eat and drink also we tend to forget about drinks and focus more on foods.
  • Cut down on alcohol this doesn’t mean to say that you can’t drink it at all but alcohol drunk in large quantities will cause you to get a fat belly.
  • Work out what your BMR is which is short for basic metabolic rate, you can tend to overlook something like this but it is useful to know because you can work out what it needs to be once you know that it will be easier to change your eating habits accordingly as well as exercise.
