If you’re somebody who has a lot of belly fat, what is the best way for you to lose it? It may be not necessarily what you think resistance training is good for building muscle on various parts of your body, but if you’re trying to lose an excess of body fat.
Then, if you are able to do it your best bet is to do some aerobic exercise, such as jogging. These findings are based on a study which was done over a period of eight months. The research compared jogging, resistance training and a combination of the two.
One group which did aerobic exercise jogged for an equivalent of 12 miles at 80 percent of their maximum heart rate. Those in the other group, which did resistance training did the following exercises. Three sets of eight to 12repetitions using weights they did this approximately three times per week.
When they looked at the results, the jogging group had better visceral fat/liver fat levels. Aerobic exercise seems to reduce visceral fat, a lot better compared with resistance training. Surprisingly enough, the researchers found that resistance training didn’t offer the same benefits. Here is what one of the researchers had to say about their results.
“Resistance training is great for improving strength and increasing lean body mass,” lead author and exercise physiologist Cris Slentz said in a Duke news release. “But if you are overweight, which two-thirds of the population is, and you want to lose belly fat, aerobic exercise is the better choice because it burns more calories.”
The conclusion was that aerobic exercise, burned 67 percent more calories compared to resistance training, which is quite a lot really. What is everybody’s thoughts about this research? Any surprises in their please leave your opinions and thoughts in the relevant section below.
