The Cost of Food from a Global Perspective
By Mark on May 22, 2008 in Featured
We all tend to live in our worlds as far as expenditure goes when it comes to food, or any other product for that matter this morning I was trying to do some research for a blog post about the difference between junk food and healthy food and how much it costs, but I came across a post on another blog, which highlighted how much food cost the world over.
So I went to the original source of the article and the results are what you see beneath you.
When you actually look at how much people in other countries pay for their food the price differences from some countries are quite amazing to say the least. Reading this post is a education in itself the reason being is it’s quite interesting to see how other people live and what it costs them to buy food on a truly global scale.

For the most part what I find interesting is not so much as how much they are spending so much but what they are buying! If you look at the pictures of the more affluent countries you will see more packaged and processed foods and in massive amounts! It goes way beyond need. It is true that Coca Cola rules Mexico! Even those who can not afford it have Coca Cola. It was hard by the pictures to actually compare costs of food because there are too many mitigating factors like size of family. The only picture that showed a very obvious difference was the Abroubakar family. I certainly do not fit into the North American average…if that is what these pictures represent. $340.00 a week? For four people??? I am stunned!
