2671495796_c0bdc6bd99_mHow many of us do eat the amount of leafy green vegetables that we should do. Preferably, we should eat five a day according to common knowledge but after reading this you may start to change your mind.

When an analysis was done into eating various foods, which included fruit and vegetables it was found that only foods, which had spinach and cabbage present within them had the most effect.

So if you eat a portion and a half a day with these particular foods in you will cut your risk of diabetes by 14 percent according to research, which was put together by the BMJ.

British Medical Journal. However, experts have said that you should still maintain eating five portions of fruit and vegetables each day.

The research found that just eating fruit and vegetables alone may not be enough to ward off type two diabetes, but all in all, it is a positive step to do so.

Yet when it came to analysing leafy green vegetables, which include things like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. The effect was meant to be more significant in warding off type two diabetes. So if you eat 106 grams of these types of vegetables this will cut your risk of getting diabetes by 14 percent, which is quite good when you think about what you have got to do.

The researchers didn’t come up with any clear-cut reasons for this apart from the fact that leafy green vegetables have high levels of antioxidants, which may somehow interfere with diabetes from becoming active. Although this particular research is very limited it does bang home the message that we should still be eating more vegetables than we actually are.
